Greetings, I am about to change harddrives for the first time and would appreciate insights from anyone.... I need to move all the files from an old 800 MB harddrive (presently the C:\on the computer)to another harddrive installed on the same machine (D:\)(3 GB) and then make the second (D:\) the new master.. I can do the mechanical switching and jumpers.. it is the file transfer i am concerned about. I would rather not format the second harddrive at this time until I am more confident with what I am doing. If go ahead and use xcopy in DOS (can't add anything to the C:\ hardrive at the moment.. too small to download anything to it) . THEN I have an old 2 GB harddrive I will format and make the slave (D:\) . This computer is presently set up by Internet COnnection wizard and I am wanting to make the switchover as painless as possible as I mearn how to do this. As far as programs they are not an issue.. I have CD's of all on the machine. The OS is Windows98 SE. Once i gain my confidence with this old machine then I want to use xxcopy for the main one (the primary computer in hte home office) Any help would be appreciated .
