Kan, before my own Alzheimer's eliminates the thought, something for the back burner! I see that you often get queries from new (and sometimes from established) users of XXCOPY about the use of legacy or superseded switches. Why not list them separately (or additionally) at the beginning of the switch lists and help screens, perhaps with the appropriate work around comments e.g. : - Legacy Switches The following switches should not be used (are discontinued in this version?) ...... ....... ....... The following switches should not be used in new programs ....... Use..........................instead. ....... ....... Everyone wants 100% backwards compatibility for ever. I suspect that there will come a time when you will have to make a choice between some valuable addition with broad appeal and the removal of a little used feature that will still be "vital" to someone. I hope that after a switch has been on the "not for new" list for a few years, removing it would be tolerated. Do you ever rest? Regards, Bob
