Thanks Kan. The situation seems strange. =20 Other than not being able to use the xxclone function to activate a backup = XP partition on the slave drive, and other than the "xxclone.dat" anomalies= , my new installation seems to be working okay, dual-booting into XP and W9= 8 on the master drive and able to remove and install software and burn a CD= .=20=20 =20 Maybe the anomalous info in xxclone.dat is part of the xxclone glitch rathe= r than identifying an underlying problem? Is there any alternative indepen= dent verification that I could run with regard to the strange info in xxclo= ne.dat? =20 The only really significant change in my operating environment is dropping = W95 and shifting from a pair of 30GB-40GB WD drives (the 40GB drive had bee= n formatted to a 32GB size) to a pair of 120GB WD drives. The 120GB drives= were a boxing day special for $80 Canadian net of rebate. As noted befor= e, I'm running a Dell Dimension XPS T450. =20 For both the 120GB drives, I simply used Partition Magic 8.0 (from within a= n XP environment on the original 30GB drive) to partition them and copy ove= r primary and logical partitions (no other type of formatting preparation s= eemed necessary), then used xxclone from the 30GB drive to successfully act= ivate the logical XP partition on the master 120GB drive ... I could probab= ly have done the same with the slave 120GB drive but was intrigued that I c= ould not successfully run xxclone from within XP on the master 120GB drive.= =20=20 =20 =20 Dan =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D ----- Original Message ----- From: Kan Yabumoto XXCOPY tech To: Sent: Sunday, December 28, 2003 4:31 AM Subject: Re: [Fwd: Re: [xxcopy] Re: XXCLONE -> XP Source not detected] Dear Dan: Thank you for sending me your new XXCLONE.DAT file. But the contents are rather funny. The C: drive as you say is missing from= the Volume List even though it is shown in the Partition List (which is co= nstructed by scanning the system registry). Another interesting is that the Volume list section had the [d:0,p:1] ... (= which is for disk 0 --- signature value =3D 0x7fd84862. And, disk 1 is als= o shown as W:. Since Disk 0 and Disk 1 is already taken, the disk that C: = belongs has to be either Disk 2 or higher. I'm scratching my head for an e= xplanation which I do not have right now.
