I've always been somewhat confused by the partition# that XXCLONE uses when defining the source and destination partitions. I was not really affected before because XXCLONE previously did not alter my boot.ini files. Previously my XP logical partition was not on the same hard drive as my boot.ini file but now they are both on the master boot hard drive, and my boot.ini file is automatically revised when I run xxclone. The boot.ini file seems to use the following rules: a) the first hard drive is drive 0 and the second is drive 1. b) partition # references consider all partitions, primary and logical, regardless of whether they are hidden. I have the following problems with the xxclone numbering system. 1. I typically have three primary partitions (two are W98 and one contains the XP boot.ini file). There will always be one active primary partition and two hidden primary partitions. XXCLONE's partition-numbering system always seems to be too low by a count of two because it seems to not take into account my two hidden primary partitions. 2. I'm not really sure about this next item, but I think XXCLONE sometimes seems to treat the first hard drive as #1 rather than #0 (and I think it considers the second hard drive to be #2) but this is less troublesome than the partition #ing because currently my source and destination partitions are on the same hard drive and so xxclone is not altering the drive numbers when I run xxclone. Thanks, Dan
