I had an unusual problem the other day trying to backup one 120GB drive to another. Both drives are connected on my Win2K Pro box using external firewire enclosures. Out of 117GB in used space (41 files total), only 26GB was copied, and the files that were only partially copied are all greater than 4.1GB. Both drives are NTFS. What's even stranger is that for those files > 4.1GB it didn't copy the same amount. XXCOPY did NOT report any errors during the copying -- it said it was successful. File#1 - sfc2000.avi Actual: 22,845,112,320 Copied: 1,370,275,840 File #2 - sfc2000.m2v Actual: 4,138,339,663 Copied: same File #3 - sfc2000-dvd-t4-day3.avi Actual: 11,804,213,248 Copied: 3,214,278,656 File #4 - sfc2k-1.avi Actual: 27,930,705,920 Copied: 2,160,902,144 File #5 - sfc2k-2.avi Actual: 10,598,858,752 Copied: 2,008,924,160 File #6 - sfc2k-3.avi Actual: 26,072,834,048 Copied: 303,030,272 (yes -- less than 1G got copied) File#2 is the next largest file before file #5 so I'm including it as part of my statement that it appears to be files >4.1G that aren't being copied. I tried the /CLONE operation twice and got the same results both times. I ended up using Windows Explorer to copy the ones XXCOPY didn't do correctly. Is there a file size limit in XXCOPY's /CLONE command?
