No, I am transferring the W98 image from an old to a new drive, but I have to use another XP host computer as temporary storage for the image since I cant plug two drives into the laptop, and can only plug one laptop micro drive at a time into the host system (only one micro drive adaptor). Because of this scenario, it would seem I could do one the following: a)Boot my XP system with a '98 boot disk and run xxcopy under '98. b)Or simply run xxcopy under XP. c)Or use xpclone. d)Or do a network xfer under either. Which of these options are open to me with the freeware? You would not use xxclone for that because xxclone is only for XP (currently). Xxcopy will transfer a W98 operating system although you will need to work through changes in drivers etc if you are transferring to another computer. Kan has a very thorough article on the process of cloning W98 using xxcopy, and someone can point out which article it is or you might see it in the index list at www.xxcopy.com. I read the article, but it did not seem to address my questions above. This is a time-consuming process so I want to know my options. > > Transferring the operating system through a network would apparently > require the use of the pro version. It was not clear. I am assuming that xxclone can still xfer W98 images, but cant run under W98. Also that xxcopy can xfer XP images, and maybe it can be run under XP as well as W98, maybe not.
