I'm a great user of XXcopy but recently came across a problem when using the Clone switch, when backing up my boot drive to a spare partition. Files are copied OK the first time, but I immediately run my batch file a second time just to be sure. This always shows that 2 files have been copied, no matter how many more times I run the backup! When running XXcopy twice or more, I expect it to show no files have been copied, with exit code 100! Can anyone explain why & how to prevent this? I tried using the /FF switch with no success. The 2 copied files are always the same ones - 'System.dat' & the desktop shortcut of my batch file, 'HDC'. This is the output filelist 'copied.txt' using the /Fo switch:- C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DAT -> G:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DAT C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\HDC.pif -> G:\WINDOWS\Desktop\HDC.pif This is the output log file 'cloned.txt', using the /oN switch, & shows the command line I use:- XXCOPY ver 2.85.1 Command Line = C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\XXCOPY.EXE C:\ G:\ /clone /EXmyexc1.lst /pb /Q3 /ILSwin98 /ILDwinBU /oNG:\cloned.txt /foG:\copied.txt /FF --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Directories processed = 1,189 Total data in bytes = 5,862,375 Elapsed time in sec. = 2.03 Action speed (MB/min) = 173.3 Files examined = 15,483 Files copied = 2 Filelist File Created = G:\copied.txt Log File Created = G:\cloned.txt Exit code = 0 (No error, Successful operation) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many thanks to all you expert XXcopy users for your help!
