Subject  :  Xxcopy /clone not being bootable (1st time)

I'm trying to save a friends information from his hd. I dl'd 
evaluation pro because it's attached to my network (little 2 system 
home) - the info seemed to copy to my host drive - i fdisked and 
formatted the friend sys - but when i put it back in his computer i 
get 'invalid system disk'

any assistance is appreciated :-)
