Thank you, Kan, for your very detailed and helpful reply. You are, 
of course, right about the testing, and I'll will certainly follow 
your advice about getting an external floppy drive if my BIOS is 
able to boot from an external source. I don't have one on the laptop 
only because they're becoming more and more difficult to find 
already installed. Thanks again.
