The best way to get the true "default" setting is to examine the switch list by adding the /DEBUG switch (or examine the log file using the /OA or /ON switch). To be more precise, the "default" setting is more complicated than that. XXCOPY tries to ease the pain of typing all common and usually-obvious combination. E.g., when you specify /SG (gather files from subdirectories), it implicitly adds /S because in 99% of /SG operations are for gathering files from multi-level subdirectories into a single destination directory. So, in this case, the default setting of with respect to the /S/S0 aspect is /S when the /SG is in effect whereas for typical copy operations, /S0 is the default settings. > (2) what switches are mutually exclusive? Use /? for a switch you are interested in using. E.g., xxcopy \src\ \dst\ /h /? Note: this is not an exhaustive list for the whole command set. On the other hand, if you add /oP to a particular command line, more focused sets of mutually exhaustive switches that are relevant to the current command line will be displayed. We have not compiled an exhaustive list of the entire set of switches that shows all permutations and variations. I think it is pointless to make an exhaustive list as suggested. We have a more reasonable list --- the alphabetical listing and otherwise. http://www.xxcopy.com/xxcopy26.htm http://www.xxcopy.com/xxcopy27.htm Kan Yabumoto
