Follup to original post: "Cloning Partitions... dont need it to be bootable" _________________________________________________________________ Thanks for your help Kan... couple of questions remain. First) If I do clone a System Partion to a System partion, but not the System of the computer doing the process, Is there any conflicts? I am temporarily adding two drives from one computer onto another for the purpose of Copying a dying system drive onto a new drive. XXClone comes up with a message "The source volume you chose is not the current Windows directory is kept. Do you want to Continue?" If I continue, will XXClone ignore the current Windows and only copy the other system volume I specified? Second) In your reply you mentioned that you believe having more than 2 partitions would be silly. I like to keep data and the paging file off my System drive to allow for imaging to a single DVD. This way a virus or an install of a crummy program or any host of reasons to restore a perfect working copy of a system volume can be performed very easily. A clone partition is great for a first defense, but many scenarios can find that clone also becoming corrupt. But, my plan crumbles if I let my system partition become entangled in a huge 15 to 150 mega gigabite volume. What is the downside to having more than 2 partitions? I would appreciate your feedback as I am always trying to improve my setup and provide the most versatile disaster recovery plan. Thanks again Kan. --- End forwarded message ---
