Here's a link http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/xpusrdat.mspx LocalService and NetworkService Profiles The LocalService and NetworkService profiles are automatically created by Windows XP for two new built in user accounts that are used by the Service Control Manager to host services that do not need to run as the local system account. While these two new profiles are normal user profiles, because they are required by the system to run, they are treated slightly differently: . LocalService and NetworkService profiles are not shown in the profiles list on the system properties dialog. . Both LocalService and NetworkService profiles are located in %systemroot%\Documents and Settings by default, but are marked as super hidden so that they are not ordinarily visible. -----Original Message----- From: des4212001 [mailto:des421@c...] Sent: Wednesday, September 01, 2004 1:44 PM To: xxcopy@yahoogroups.com Subject: [xxcopy] Those Other Instances of NTUSER.DAT & UsrClass.DAT The 2 smaller instances of these 2 files, down the Docs & Settings\LocalService & NetworkService paths. If anyone can tell me what they are, it will be here. Lars Hederer won't answer. ERUNT doesn't save\restore them (directly). I ass-u-me they aren't actually necessary. But would really like to know positively. I finally started using xxcopy, after following it for a year now. And you know what? It works, ah, better than what I'd been using! Well, a lot better actually. Hey, multiple solutions is good. My other method can force NT Hives (.dat) and hence copies the above. DES
