A full backup should re-copy every file from the source to
the destination. An incremental backup should only copy
the files that have changed since the last backup. This should
copy considerably fewer files than for a full backup. If this
is not happening, there's something not quite right.

No. Xxclone does a file copy operation. It doesn't reproduce
the physical layout of the source. You would need to carry
out a separate defrag of the destination.
