(I didn't understand the letters to the right of the numbered exclusions and haven't encountered that in the help yet.) Reducing the exclusion to /X:DPE.DUS made no difference to the outcome (but did remind me all the exclusions were automatically preceeded by the base Source directory, saving a lot of redundant typing). This file only exists in the Source if that makes any difference? I can make it Hidden and it will be ignored! And I can copy it to the Destination and of course then it's skipped. I haven't tried the /BX/FF combo for the second file, but hold no hope as there are Many other files transfered from NTFS to FAT32 there which don't cause this problem. This particular file can be specifically excluded, and that exclusion works. I had completely missed the configurable aspects of /FF. (And am further amazed!) My only excuse is I'm actually an xxcopy novice, having only used it for a couple of weeks now. So, there's even more to discover I'm sure. In trying out some quick /BI/FF3602 combos, that answers the Day Light Savings Time question, and much more. However, it just turns out that I've let the 2 machines get much further out of sync time wise than I thought! There are locations where it's tighter, and there are locations where it's just not necessary. (The samples in the Details post are only 1 of 6 components in the Sync batch.) Thank you, I learned quite a lot from your suggestions. I'll continue to persue the exceptions to conclusion. However, any further responce could be delayed. I'm located in Pensacola, FL. and Gulf Power Co. has already warned us to expect up to 3 Weeks power outages from Hurricane Ivan! Even if I had a generator, the cable will go out first, and be the last thing restored! DES
