If I were to type xcopy filename new_filename where new_filename does not already exist I get the message Does new_filename specify a file name or directory name on the target (F = file, D = directory) This allows me to either copy the file to a new file with a different name in the same directory or to a new directory. However, with xxcopy it does not offer this option and assumes new_filename is a directory. I want to create a new filename in the same directory using xxcopy. How do I do this? Thanks, Peter
