If you want, you can run a separate xxcopy command which deletes all files which are about to be deleted or updated then run the xxcopy command to add or update new files. The command would be: xxcopy \usbdrive\ \src\ /rsy/bo/s/h/r/pd0 This will delete files on the usbdrive which don't exist in the source or are older than the files in the source. If you prefer, you could leave the older files in place and just delete the extra files by using /bb instead of /bo. As to your existing command, here's a few comments: /AC - OK /BI/D - OK but can use /BN instead (copy new or newer) /Q/Q2 - The rightmost /Q2 command has priority so don't need /Q /H/R - OK /ZY - Won't be needed if using previous clean up command first /YY - OK although I prefer to use the specific prompt controls. Also, if you use the previous clean up command, this won't be needed as there'll be no prompts. /ZS - OK /S - You'll need this if you want to process subdirectories Garry
