Hi All, Beta Test Ref No: XC 18601. Running Windows XP Home Edition. 1.7Ghz Processor. 384Mb RAM. Drive C: is my System or Source Drive. 40Gb Drive D: is my XXCloned drive. 40Gb Got myself a small problem, nothing insurmountable, but at this moment in time I just cannot see the wood for the trees. Until around 11.30am today, everything has been sweet as a nut with the entire system. This morning I carried out my usual Xxclone backup using the following: :: Begin Batch File (for NT, 2000, or XP systems) @echo off & setlocal enableextensions echo Enter D (and press ENTER) to do a daily backup echo W to do a weekly backup echo M to do a monthly backup. echo: echo Or just press ENTER to exit. echo: set /p OPTION= if "%OPTION%"=="" GOTO :EOF if /I "%OPTION%"=="W" xxcopy c:\ d:\ /BU/FF/ZY/EX"C:\My exclusion list.txt"/oNxxcopy.log if /I "%OPTION%"=="M" xxcopy C:\ D:\ /BU/FF/EX"C:\My exclusion list.txt"/oNxxcopy.log echo: pause cls cd\XXCLONE XXCLONE.EXE c: d: /backup0 /start cls :: End Batch File I used the W or Weekly option as I usually have done. However when I then tried to boot into the Cloned drive I got the following message on screen: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt. \System32\hal.dll Please re-install a copy of the above file. Has anyone got any bright ideas as to why this might have happened, or may have happened. Am I correct in thinking that if I re-Install the named dll back into Windows\System32\hal.dll in the destination disk or in my case drive D: then I would have resolved my problem. Sincere thanks Kind regards Pat
