Thank you Gary, Just carried out a check on what I did type yesterday PM. You are 100% right as you usually are. My errors were simple typo errors. The Boot.ini is 100% correct, has been for quite a long time. No the question seems to come down to this hal.dll. What on earth does hal.dll do.?????? When I am in the restart position and it says that I need to reinstall a copy. Is it into the Destination drive which I think or does it go into the source, my apologies in advance if the question appeared rather Stupid. Kind Regards Sincere thanks in advance Pat. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Garry Deane" To: Sent: Sunday, November 07, 2004 5:41 AM Subject: [xxcopy] Re: Still well and truely STUCK????? It should look like: C:\CMDCONS\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows Recovery Console" /cmdcons Note the spelling and | instead of \ in your entry. I don't know if it's critical but you're also missing a space before the /fast detect switch on the second choice. Not being a computer expert or a Software expert, I just don't have a clue if the matter of Upper case letters or lower case letters makes any difference. Is hal.dll exactly the same as HAL.dll Yes! the case differences don't matter. Garry Pat
