Hi, all. For almost a year, this discussion group's message posting and moderation policy has been as follows: 1. Anyone can view the messages. 2. Only members can post messages. 3. No attachment to a message is allowed. 4. New member's first message is subject to moderation. This policy was created about a year ago in order to eliminate spam messages that had reached an annoying level then. Effective immediately, the moderation (Item 4 above) is no longer practiced. This is due to the fact Yahoo's anti-spam mechanism apparently works quite well now. I haven't seen many spams that needed to be deleted very often in the past several months. Since the drawback of the moderation policy was that the first posting by a new member always had a latency that often prompts the unsuspected poster to send more messages. Depending upon how often the moderator (myself) checks the pending message, the delay was anywhere from a few hours to a day (or even more sometimes). I just concluded that the sporadic spams that elude Yahoo's line of defenses are sufficiently rare, it no longer amounts to an annoyance. Rather, the delays suffered by the first-time posters outweigh the spams. Besides, I can free myself from the chore. Let us hope Yahoo's defense will remain effective. Kan Yabumoto
