As noted in my previous post, I'm delighted with the way Xxclone=20 operates on my laptops, so it's mostly out of curiosity that I'm=20 asking about the following difference between routine incremental=20 backups in W2k SP4 and Win XP SP2.=20=20 On the W2k machine, `Backup Option #2 (Incremental Backup)'=20 and `Backup Option #3 (Win Essential Files Only)' always copy the=20 following items:=20 C:\WINNT\$NtServicePackUninstall$\ and all its contents (over=20 100MB);=20 C:\WINNT\system32\dllcache\ and its contents (over 100MB);=20 28 directories like C:\WINNT\$NtUninstallKB820888$\ntfs.sys =96 each=20 referring to a previous Windows update. Since these files seem not even to have been accessed since the=20 previous backup I'm curious why Xxclone wastes time doing it. It only happens in W2k. Similar directories and files exist on the=20 XP laptop and they get copied by Backup Option #1, but not=20 by `Backup Option #2' or `Backup Option #3'.=20 David Tong.
