Oops! I tempted fate earlier by writing=20 I'd done 'full disaster rehearsals on a=20 Win 2k SP4 laptop *and* on a Win XP Pro=20 SP2 laptop'. This was perfectly correct=20 for the W2k laptop but I'd not yet=20 physically swapped the drives on the XP=20 machine. When I did so (two hours after=20 posting the message) Sod's Law struck. Everything went fine up to getting the=20 login screen. When I OK'd my password,=20 the screen changed to the 'Please Wait =96=20 Logging off...' screen. (No other=20 message). After 3 minutes and plenty of=20 disc activity I got part of the Windows=20 jingle. At 4 min the login screen=20 returned. I entered the password and the=20 same thing happened. Repeated this four=20 times. Then tried logging in as=20 Administrator (instead of just as me with=20 admin privileges). Same result, so I gave=20 up and swapped the drives back to square=20 one. Can anyone help me over this final hurdle=20 with the XP backup? For what it's worth:=20 1. I did all the Xxclone operations=20 with the default setting /BC0.=20=20 2. At all times I worked from my own=20 user area with admin privileges.=20=20 3. The file Xxclone5.bat exists on the=20 clone but since I can't log in it's not=20 been activated yet. 4. BOOTSECT.DOS look identical in=20 master and clone.=20=20 5. The debug log files for W2k (which=20 worked fine) and XP (which stalled at log- in) both contain the line 'Failed CopyFile=20 C:\NTBootDD.sys to G:\NtbootDD.sys'.=20=20 However, since this file doesn't seem to=20 exist anywhere on the XP or W2k laptops it=20 can hardly matter.=20 I'm stumped for now. Would appreciate any=20 help. Thanks, David Tong.
