Just to prove I finally did get it. Testing with /L first to complete the developement of the destination exclusions, results in the following: ===================================================================== ========== XXCOPY ver 2.85.8 2004-11-30 11:32:34 Windows Ver 5.1.2600 Command Line = xxcopy /EC/CF:"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\My Documents.xcf"/PZ0/WS --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Command File = F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\My Documents.xcf "F:\My Documents\" "\\Cx532597-a\My Documents\" /BZ /Q /S /Y /oN:"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\Sync.log" /oF2 /oD2 /oE2 /X:"My Albums\" /X:"My DVDs\" /X:"My Music\My Playlists\" /X:"My Music\My Recordings\" /X:"My Pictures\Downloads\" /X:"Private\ZAP Security Settings.zip" /X:Scripts\ /X:DPE.DUS /X:Sample*.lnk --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Switch Parameters /AXH /AXS /BZX /C /CA /CB0 /CCY /CF"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\My Documents.xcf" /CK /CR3 /D0 /DL0 /E0 /EC /ED0 /ER0 /F0 /FM0 /FF0 /FL /FT0 /FW /H0 /I0 /IN* /K0 /L0 /N0 /N P0 /NX0 /NI0 /NW /NC0 /oN"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\Sync.log" /oD2 /oE2 /oF2 /oI0 /oP0 /oS0 /oX0 /P0 /PB0 /PC0 /PD0 /PN /Po0 /PZ0 /Q1 /QF0 /QB0 / QS0 /R0 /S /SP0 /SG0 /SX0 SZ:- /T0 /TR00 /TS0 /TD0 /TTA0 /TCA0 /TCC0 /TCW /TM0 /U0 /V0 /WD /WS /WV /X /Y /Z0 /ZE0 /ZS0 /ZX0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Source base directory = "F:\My Documents\" Destination directory = "\\Cx532597-a\My Documents\" File name template = "*" Directories processed = 220 Total data in bytes = 0 Elapsed time in sec. = 2.125 Action speed (MB/min) = 0 Files examined = 2,193 Files copied = 0 Log File Created = "F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\Sync.log" Exit code = 100 (No files were found to copy) ===================================================================== ========== XXCOPY ver 2.85.8 2004-11-30 11:32:38 Windows Ver 5.1.2600 Command Line = xxcopy /CE/CF:"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\My Documents2.xcf"/PZ0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Command File = F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\My Documents2.xcf "\\Cx532597-a\My Documents\" "F:\My Documents\" /RS /PD0 /BZ /Q /S /Y /oA:"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\Sync.log" /oF2 /oD2 /oE2 /X:*.rdp /X:desktop.ini /X:DPE.DUS /X:"Computer Stuff\History\Builder.com Web Development Zone 01.zip" /X:"My Music\beck.* /X:"My Music\My Playlists\" /X:"My Music\Sample Playlists\ /X:"My Pictures\Downloads\" /X:"Private\ZAP Security Settings.zip" /X:Scripts\ --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Switch Parameters /AXH /AXS /BZX /C /CA /CBQ /CCY /CF"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\My Documents2.xcf" /CK /CR3 /D0 /DL0 /E0 /EC /ED0 /ER0 /F0 /FM0 /FF0 /FL /FT0 /FW /H0 /I0 /IN* /L0 /N0 /N P0 /NX0 /NI0 /NW /NC0 /oA"F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\Sync.log" /oD2 /oE2 /oF2 /oI0 /oP0 /oS0 /oX0 /P0 /PB0 /PC0 /PD0 /PN /Po0 /PZ0 /Q1 /QF0 /QB0 / QS0 /R0 /RSY /S /SP0 /SG0 /SX0 SZ:- /T0 /TR00 /TS0 /TD0 /TTA0 /TCA0 /TCC0 /TCW /TM0 /U0 /V0 /W0 /WD /WV /X /Y /Z0 /ZE0 /ZS0 /ZX0 --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Source base directory = "\\Cx532597-a\My Documents\" Destination directory = "F:\My Documents\" File name template = "*" --------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Exclusion Items Optimization Directories processed = 219 Total data in bytes = 0 Elapsed time in sec. = 4.188 Action speed (MB/min) = 0 Files deleted = 0 Log File Appended = "F:\My Documents\Scripts\Sync Dell\Sync.log" Exit code = 100 (No files were found to copy) For the record, a couple of items were indeed found to delete along the way. (And I see an exclusion I missed!) It hardly seems worth it as the second pass takes twice as long as the first, but this was a pursuit of the details. I can always remark out the second pass lines in the batch file and only use them occationally. I did verify that /RSY = /RS /Y, and as per your example the /PD0 is definitely needed. Thanks again: DES
