Having had some spare time today I read some of the other XXCLONE threads on restores in here... If nothing else I've learned that by far the better resolution to my original problem would have been just to use my target drive as my new 'system' disk. I'm also having second thoughts now on my partitioning and backup strategy. For any other 'newbies' I recommend Kan's message #8446. However I am where I am and what I can't understand is why I can't still just use my target (backup) drive. It boots ok but as g:\ and all the program icons, etc point to c:\. Can't I just change the drive letter with the W2K disk management tool? Malcolm --- In xxcopy@yahoogroups.com, "m_surgenor" wrote: > > Thanks for the pointers Pat.
