I'm attempting to upgrade my old 10gig hard drive to a 200gig. Both are WD Cavaiar drives 2meg and 8meg buffer respectively, and I'm currently using W2K-SP4 with all the latest MSUpdates. I have attached the 200gig as a CSS master on the 2nd IDE. My 10 gig is partitioned into 4 logical drives- C: - is Win98, but I dont use it anymore... D: is my W2K drive, then there's E and F... I also have a 120gig CSS/slave I've been using for a year. The BIOS recognizes my new 200 gig, and I have partitioned it into a few 10-gig drives for starters. I have attempted to xxcopy C: N: /CLONE - It runs for a while, slows down and eventually stops. Same thing when I attempt to copy D: ... or E: or F: I have tried MS' XCOPY and the same thing happens there. I've even tried Explorer's copy and paste, and THAT slows down to a crawl! The C is fat32 and the D is NTFS - ditto for partitions on the new hard drive. The full format on these new partition executes OK. Can't help thinking there's something very basic I'm forgetting. Any ideas? -Tony
