I have the latest XXCLONE (0219). In the documentation it says that dynamic disks are now supported. I am running Windows 2000 Pro. I just upgraded to a larger hard drive capacity using XXCLONE. I wasn't paying enought attention when initially setting up the new disk, and happened to create a "simple dynamic disk". The XXCLONE proces seemed to work just fine in that it reported a successful clone operation, but when I tried to boot to the new disk (old disk removed) nothing happened (tried both Master and Cable Select with the proper connector connected to the new drive). Swiched things back, rebooted and reran XXCLONE fixing only the MBR and boot.ini. Same thing when I tried to boot to the new drive. Even tried to boot to Win200PRo CD and use the Repair option. The drive appeared to have nothing on it (couldn't do a DIR in console mode). If I reconnected the original drive as Primary and the new as Secondary, I could read the new drive just fine after booting into Windows. It was at this point I checked the Disk Config with Disk Management program and saw the "simple dynamic disk". Recreated a "basic primary partition", reformated and reran the whole XXCLONE process and things worked great. The only unusual thing that happened was that ZoneAlarm seemed to have lost its information regarding programs to allow through, trusted IP address ranges, etc. Once I fixed that, all seems just as with the smaller disk. So either I screwed up (not sure where), or the dynamic disk support needs some work yet. Just thought I'd let you know.
