I'm using a Pentium 4 with XP sp.1 I've been using a Western Digital 160 GB external hard drive now for close to 2 years and have had no ill effects with it at all via standard XP command line scripts. I bought mine in a local Sam's Club for $180 (US) but the last time I looked they had dropped in price, plus there's larger drives available now. I can also tell you that I'm pretty much sold on external hard drives, at least for the time being. I only use CDs or DVDs as supplemental backups now, everything else goes to the external hard drive. Or for short term backups (such as when traveling), to a 1 GB CompactFlash card. John
